Here are a few of our objectives:
in groups experience physical, psychological, and social benefits with
equine assisted therapy.
- To teach life skills and assist with developing the full potential of young
people using a farm environment and farm related activities.
- To teach participants responsibility through the care and management
of horses.
- To raise awareness in the community regarding the programs impact on
the challenges faced by youth and those with disabilities.
- To continually seek new goals for the program and participants, creating
an environment of challenge, enjoyment and achievement.
At the conclusion of our eight (8) week program children of all ages should be
able to:
communicate successfully with others
demonstrate manners and etiquette
demonstrate proper attire for various functions within the program
understand and demonstrate the principals of good horsemanship
demonstrate techniques for disinfecting their companion's stall
demonstrate the proper technique for sanitizing their companion's feed
and drinking containers
demonstrate proper handwashing techniques
demonstrate being a team member/leader
discuss and demonstrate proper tack for horses
demonstrate the ability to ride horseback (Western Pleasure)
discuss being worthwhile members of our society
and much more!
At the conclusion of each program, family and friends are invited to a small,
informal, but gratifying awards ceremony. Although every child is a winner, the
best "all round" riders of each class will compete for the opportunity to
participate in local equine eventing, shows, and programs. Be a part of the
celebration!
